About

Judy Johnson Berna has a degree in Elementary Education but has spent the last two decades raising four great kids. During that time she's worked part time, at a fabric store (where she learned to quilt), a library (where she felt right at home), and currently at the Recreation Center in her small Colorado home town (where she gets motivated to work out, watching all her neighbors stream through the door).

She wrote a weekly parenting column for her local paper during the years her family lived in New York and is currently one of the core contributors to GeekMom.com, a Wired Magazine blog. She's been published in the book "The Mothering Heights Manuel for Motherhood", had several articles published in  InMotion (the national magazine for amputees), and has been featured in The O&P Edge (the trade magazine for prosthetics and orthotics).

She's been working on the stories and manuscript for this book for over eight years, starting to get the story down just weeks after her amputation surgery.
