As promised in chapter _, the first picture Jeff took of me, on my first day, in my Dollar Store hat. At this moment I still wasn't sure I'd be able to pull off this sport.

Jeff, who is an accomplished skier, was patient and skied the easy slopes with me on our Fridays in Park City.

I gain confidence on the bunny slopes. The one time I accidentally headed down a more advanced slope, it didn't end well (story in chapter _).

The Friday before my beloved Seattle Seahawks were to play in their first Super Bowl, I wore my favorite shirt to bring them luck.

It was a thrill to finally be able to ski with my children. They love to ski and I am grateful to be able to share this sport with them.

Sam was my buddy on several of our days on the mountain. The big kids were in school, but every Friday Sam got to decide to either stay with his little buddy who lived across the street, or hit the mountain with mom.

Our last year in Utah I had the unique opportunity to try out a new ski foot. It clicks directly into the ski binding, which gives the skier much more control.

It was so nice not to have to shove my artificial foot into a ski boot, then rig it up so it wouldn't wiggle around. Clicking directly into the binding was easier and gave me much more control. They were the best days of skiing I've ever had.

It's handy to take your prosthetist on the mountain with you. Joe could tweak the adjustment as we went along. Not a bad day 'at the office' for him.

My other amazing instructor, Jason, giving me pointers. Sam waited patiently through these lessons. At five, he was already a better skier than mom. Joe, on the right, an expert skier, patiently played along.

Having a prosthetist who loves being outdoors, and does all he can to make sure you get out there too, is a gift.
